Belonging in French
THE program for LGBTQIA+ people who want to improve their French while finally being fully themselves (and having a blast) ✨
🏳️🌈 Coaching program · 6 months · Online 🏳️⚧️

You know that moment when you open your mouth in French… and you freeze. Your French could be better, you know that, but more than anything you just can't get the words out.
You want real conversations, real connections, the confidence to stop avoiding interactions and stop switching to English the moment things get real.
But there's something else going on, which most French courses don't talk about: When you're queer and learning French, it's not just a language problem, it's also an identity problem. How do you exist in a language that wasn't built with you in mind? How do you talk about your partner, your pronouns, how do you navigate all kind of social situations without simplifying yourself?
That's the Identity Barrier: whatBelonging in French is designed to overcome. There’s a French-speaking world waiting for you, with its jokes, its references, its Queer spaces, its genuine friendships...And Belonging in French, is the Quest to get there, while staying true to who you are.
Through The Belonging Method™ (a 3-phase approach: Identity, Connection, Belonging), you’ll progress in French while finding your queer voice, building real connections with French speakers who get you, until you feel what it means to truly belong—in French, fully.
You're dreaming of actually living in French
Making real emotional connections in French: true friends, jokes that land, conversations that last… Being able to handle sensitive situations, and even maybe professional ones.
You want to be entirely yourself in French, talk about your queer identity in all kinds of contexts without simplifying yourself, find your safe space with people who share your references and for whom French becomes an adventure.
And also: being confident and autonomous enough to stop avoiding conversations, stop dreading unexpected calls and appointments.
When you think about your French, you wish you could:
- Express yourself better, hesitate less, start thinking in French instead of mentally translating
- Handle interactions in varied contexts, join the “French worldview”
- Have real 30-minute+ conversations with friends or neighbors, at a barbecue, at a bar… And even crack jokes and share cultural references
The problem is that right now, you
- Feel “like a child” when you speak French (if you can even get words out), you’re not comfortable and you don’t dare have real conversations
- Can’t express your queer identity or that of your loved ones depending on context (doctor, neighbors, granny Gertrude…) or respond to microaggressions
- Can’t build genuine human relationships in French because you get stuck
- Feel crippling anxiety at every interaction, and especially when you're out of the comfort zone
- Always switch to English for anything fun
In short, you tell yourself you’re “bad at languages”, that you’ll “never really be yourself in French”, that you “lack vocabulary”.
| ⟹ The truth is: you don’t just lack vocabulary. You’re not broken, not bad, not “not enough”. Beyond learning “more” French, you have above all an identity problem. Language has become the barrier between you and the life you want to live. |
The program to break through the Identity Barrier™
and finally be yourself in French: express your queer identity, build real French-speaking friendships, and feel like you belong without crippling anxiety, without feeling like a child, even if you think you’re “bad at languages”.
Belonging In French is not a language school, it’s a space built for international LGBTQIA+ people living in France or a French-speaking country, who want to improve their French, fully express their identity, and feel what it's like to belong somewhere and have real fun in there.
All that in a 6 months online program.
If you already know some French and can at least:
buy stuff at the bakery
talk a bit to your neighbor
visit a French city and get through
...you're exactly in the right place. Even if it's terrifying. Especially if it's terrifying. (if your French is good but you still struggle to get words out and exist in French, this is also the place for you!)
| You don’t just get stuck in French because you’re missing words. You get stuck because of the Identity Barrier™ that invisible frontier between you and the French-speaking community. The moment you speak French, something gets lost, as if part of who you are stays stuck on the other side. Duolingo, the Alliance Française, traditional teachers, none of them teach you to cross it, because none of them start with who you truly are. To cross the Identity Barrier™, you need to build your identity IN French. That’s exactly what The Belonging Method™ does . |
The Belonging Method
The classic method: learn → apply → panic in real situations the moment you step off the “script” you know
The Belonging Method: live the language → learn to handle situations → integrate French naturally.
Belonging In French doesn’t resemble any French class you’ve ever taken. Not just because it’s designed for you as a queer person. But because it starts from a different premise: we learn a language by fully existing in it, not by studying it crazy. That’s why the program is built like a world—with its own rules, quests, and characters. And the real goal is to become the main character of your own story in French.
| The 3 phases of the Journey |
|---|
| ⚡ Phase 1 — IDENTITY — Reclaim your voice You rediscover your queer voice in French, (re)learn LGBTQIA+ identity vocabulary (coming out, genders, orientations, pronouns), master the nuances (acceptable vs. dated terms), and you can tell YOUR story in French without simplification or infantilisation. ith this, you can start navigating delicate social situations, and the not-so-delicate ones. |
| 🔗 Phase 2 — CONNECTION — Build real connections in French You build authentic bonds with the French community: you join LGBTQ+ conversations, understand cultural references (historical figures, authors, the current queer scene) and the social codes of French-speaking spaces in general. |
| 🏠 Phase 3 — BELONGING — Root yourself in French You feel a genuine sense of belonging to France and its LGBTQIA+ community. No longer “between two chairs”, you fully embody your identity in French, with confidence, pride, and freedom. |
WHAT YOU WILL GAIN
| 🌟 Reclaim your identity in French You no longer feel “reduced” when you speak. You can tell your story, come out, talk about your relationships with nuance and authenticity. You are YOU, fully, in French. | 🎭 Be active in the Francophone community You walk into a queer bar (or elsewhere) and you have enough French and confidence to TALK. You make jokes, you get the references, you debate. You’re no longer a spectator, you’re an actor in the French queer scene. |
| 💛 Build deep friendships with French speakers You break out of your English-speaking bubble. You have close French friends you can talk to about everything, especially what you’re passionate about. You feel at home, belonging to the community. | ✨ Transcend the shame and feel dignified You stop feeling “bad at languages”. You understand it wasn’t you that was the problem, it was the tools you were given. You regain confidence and pride |
In Belonging In French, I show you the methods to:
- Dare to start conversations with people and hold them in French for 30+ minutes, without freezing, without switching to English, without losing the thread
- Tell your story, talk about your gender and relationships in French with the right words, the right register and without self-censoring
- Stop feeling “bad at languages”: understand why you were really stuck and regain confidence even if your French isn’t perfect (spoiler: neither is native speakers’! 🤡 )
- Keep progressing independently after the program, using your niche interests (fantasy, DnD, video games, TV shows…) as natural fuel for learning
How does it work?
This online program combines:
- 🎤Coaching
Group and 1-1 sessions to actually do stuff in French and overcome personal barriers - 🌐Community
To practice, chat, have fun, build connections… In short: to live and exist in French - 🎬Recorded contents
Short videos (5–10 min), workbooks and activities to fill in, download or print, to progress at your own pace
What you should know
- Up to a maximum of 15 participants: a small group so that everyone has the space to exist and I can fully personalize everything
- All sessions are recorded, so you don't miss out if you can't make it one day
– 100 % en ligne, accessible from any country or timezone
– Neurodivergent-friendly : the program is made for people who learn outside of the box. Speaking in group sessions is never mandatory, written chat is an option.
Belonging In French is designed to fit into your life, not eat it up. 2 to 3 hours per week are enough.
THE DETAILED PROGRAM
Belonging In French has its own universe: phases are chapters, modules are quests. And grammar? It’s a magic system, not an ordeal. I build the playground, and you live and exist in it, in French. It’s a new way to see language: as a world to inhabit.
⚔️ The Modules (videos, written workbooks, activities)
⚡ PHASE 1 — IDENTITY: Reclaim your voice in French
| 🎮 Tutorial | Welcome 🙂 Discover how to get the most out of each session, the community and individual coaching, as well as your Profile (how YOU learn, what’s really blocking you, what boosts you). → At the end of this module, you fill in your Character Sheet™: your strengths, your main quest for the program. It’s your compass for the next 6 months (and I help you fill it in during your first 1-1 coaching). |
| 🧬 Character Creation | LGBTQIA+ Vocabulary and Identity Get familiar with LGBTQIA+ vocabulary (orientations, genders, inclusive pronouns, reclamation and traps to avoid, register nuances), tell your story in French according to context (close friend, colleague, GP, granny Gertrude…), and learn how to respond to microaggressions and intrusive questions. |
| 📖 The Spell Book | Language as a Storytelling System Use grammar as a storytelling tool to narrate, nuance, exist in the language (verb system, connectors), improvise without panicking when you don’t know a word, and finally be understood thanks to the golden rules of French pronunciation. |
| 🌍 First Steps | Real Life Starts Here Understand the social codes that save you, learn to survive unexpected, delicate and/or stressful situations (the unexpected call, the neighbour at the door, the medical emergency, the interview you need to conduct…), and discover how not to seem clueless at work thanks to French office culture. |
At the end of Phase 1:
- You can tell YOUR story in French without feeling reduced or patronised
- You navigate everyday exchanges without panicking 24/7
- You finally understand why you were blocking, and you feel safe in unexpected situations

Discover LGBTQ+ historical figures, Francophone LGBTQ+ authors, films, shows and podcasts, and of course the history of LGBTQ+ rights in France: what has changed, what remains to be done, and how to talk about it without sounding like you’re reading Wikipedia! |
| 🎭 Social Quests | Navigating Social Spaces Decode the unspoken rules and slang of bars, associations, parties and events. Learn techniques to start and sustain a conversation without a prepared script, and to handle silences, misunderstandings, moments when you don’t understand, without it costing you your confidence. |
| ⬆️ Level Up | Express Yourself with Nuance Express your opinions, emotions and doubts in French (yes, this is the subjunctiiiive module -aka your new best friend) Discover natural structures for nuance, and master formal, informal, activist, vulgar French… so you never sound out of place. |
At the end of Phase 2:
- You actively participate in French conversations without feeling lost
- You get cultural references and know how to use them

BONUS: The evolution of inclusive French: neo-pronouns, inclusive writing, Al alphabet… All the recent developments, so you can participate in activist spaces without being lost. |
| 🔄 New Game+ | Autonomy and Life After the Program Keep progressing independently after the program, using your niche passions as the main engine, not just an app or a textbook. Discover resources to stay immersed (creators, podcasts, films, shows, accounts to follow) and strategies to manage anxiety when it creeps back. ⚔️ The Coaching Sessions
To practice, feel comfortable and make progress on your challenges, coaching is a key part of the program! That’s why you have 2 group sessions and one individual session every month. I’m with you the whole time, we're working on this together!
12 group sessions (2 per month)
| 🎲 Sessions Impro & Jeu (1h30, 2× par mois) Role-play and theatrical improv, creative games (collective storytelling, custom games), creative activities… The goal: actually do things together in French. That’s where the real magic happens: we don’t speak French, we live in French! → Group sessions are spaces for living in French: we improvise, play, create stories together… According to what makes participants tick. French is the playground, not the subject to swallow. The goal is to feel capable of managing, even if it’s not perfect. 🎯 Sessions Q&R (1h30, 2× par mois) Questions on modules, clarifications, feedback, sharing real-life situations, voluntary feedback on the workbooks. |
All sessions are recorded. Oral participation is never mandatory. Written chat counts just as much.
Summary notes are sent after each session (key points, corrections, resources mentioned).
You receive the schedule for each group session one week in advanceActivities are based on participants’ personalities and interests, for maximum motivation!
6 Individual Sessions (1 per month)
While group sessions build your confidence and conversational skills, individual sessions are THE place to talk about what’s blocking you, practice something essential to you... in short, do ultra-personalised work together.
Individual coaching doesn’t start from a standard program, it starts with you: how you learn, what’s really blocking you, what you want to be able to say and do in French. Often, the real block isn’t the one we think.
You have 1h of individual time per month, which you can book in my calendar. You can specify if you have specific needs for the session. The descriptions below are purely indicative. Sessions will fully adapt to you and your needs. And since I follow you in the lives and the community, I arrive knowing where you’re at!
- Week 1: In-depth diagnostic, personalised goals, action plan tailored to your profile + your Character Sheet™.
- Month 2: We identify what’s really blocking you and tackle it head-on.
- Month 3: We consolidate, adjust… You bring your challenges and we solve them.
- Month 4: We consolidate, adjust… You bring your challenges and we solve them.
- Month 5: We work on your autonomy and real-life situations.
- Month 6: Wrap-up, plan for the future, we celebrate, whoop whoop!
⚔️ The Community
Far from being a bonus, the community is an integral part of the Belonging in French program. It’s a space populated by people who share your references, your niche interests, your humour, and who are learning French for the same reasons as you. French becomes the language of that world. And that world is finally a place where you belong.
It allows you to build relationships with other members, chat, laugh, enjoy, discuss via voice or text… Maybe even meet in person!
In the community, you have access to thematic channels to talk about lots of different topics (culture, books, films, podcasts, interests, hobbies, society, politics, humor, memes...), ask your questions, chat around life in France as an LGBTQIA+ person.
You can also ask for and give advice on cool exhibitions to see, safe places, Queer rights, as well as ask practical questions on French and situations you encounter. We can even organize a skills-swap for those who want to!
And so you can live French whenever you want, however you want, in a safe and fun context ✨
On my end, I animate the discussion, answer your questions, give you optional mini-challenges in French (creative writing, etc.)… I’m here to help you stay motivated!
What you also get
| BONUS #1: The Anti-Loneliness System If you wish, you’ll be paired with another participant learning for the same reasons as you: shared goals, shared practice, check-in messages, mutual motivation. It’s not mandatory, but participants who want it have access! |

Your Quest begins here.
To make sure Belonging in French is made for you, it all starts with a short talk
Who am I to talk to you about all this?
I guess I learned English at school, mostly. But I really started to exist in English when I used it to be me, even if I didn’t really know who that was.
My tutor told me to write fanfictions like the nerd I was. The day I started writing Queer fanfics (even though I still thought I was straight, I was that blind) is the day I started to belong in the language. Even though my English was so very far from perfect. I made English-speaking friends on fanfiction sites and on Discord, and that’s how I understood that feeling like you exist and belong in a language is not the same as speaking it.
When I started teaching French, I quickly realized that traditional methods didn’t work for everyone, and especially not for people like me: nerds, outside of the box, Queer, and not to mention neurodivergent.
School methods are ultra-standardized, they never took into account who the person in front of me really was. My LGBTQ+ clients talked about me and my classes as a « safe space, » almost therapeutic, “the best hour of the week”, the “bubble of fun to be myself”. And through conversations with more and more queer French learners, I understood there was a real need being ignored: isolation, classes never made with them in mind, a constant feeling of being an afterthought.
Since then, I’ve worked with about fifty people. I’ve seen a client obtain her French naturalization. Another reconnected with her family in France and finally was able to talk with her little nieces. A client told me: « Six months ago, I would have canceled class because I was too anxious. Now, on the contrary, it does me good. »
I created Belonging In French because you deserve a French that resembles you. Not a watered-down French. Not a French that forces you into boxes. A French where you can be fully yourself. Because I believe that the freedom to be ourselves, especially in the languages we speak and learn, shouldn’t be some luxury, but the base of everything else.
