Lucile, prof de français nerd en plein cours de français en ligne inclusifs / Inclusive online French courses

You really want to learn or improve your French, but it's really difficult for you because

  • You don't know where to start, what to study, when to study...
  • You've already tried some traditional methods such as grammar books, vocab lists, watching shows...But you quickly get bored or give up
  • The French you've learned is too far away from the one people truly speak, so you feel like you're bad at French when speaking to them
  • If you already know some French, you feel like you're blocked, you can't really express yourself, you're overthinking every word

And so, you lack confidence, it seems difficult, energy-consuming and intimidating. You feel a bit helpless. It's even worse if you've been learning for years and still can't really talk to people!

That's totally normal!! I went through the same thing when I was learning English. The thing is, you're stuck in a loop of frustration and guilt.

It's not because you suck or because French isn't for you. It's because you don't have the right method, one that works with your brain, not against it.

Practicing French and getting better at the language at your own pace, feeling confident enough to speak, write and have whole conversations, and using the language for its inner purpose: human relationships…It’s within reach! You just have to learn outside of the box.

The key is to understand who you are, how your brain works, and what really interests you.
Whether you're learning French because:

  • you love languages and want to speak as many as possible
  • you like the language and culture
  • you want to travel to France or French speaking countries
  • you live or are going to live in a French-speaking country
  • you work with France

Or any other reason, the real key to progress is

  1. Having fun, wanting to be there, feeling good and confident when you practice
  2. Working with your brain, not against it.

If you turn learning into a hobby, if it becomes a safe space for you, a special moment where you forget your daily routine and enjoy chatting, then you will really make progress. On the other hand, if you want to learn but every time you try, you give up because it's not fun, you will eventually completely give up.

Each person is unique, and by using your specific characteristics and interests (especially if they're a bit niche!), you can turn difficulties into pleasure, and French will become YOUR thing.

My Out of the box French courses are really tailored to people who struggle with learning on their own, who are looking for a way to improve in a non traditional way, by talking about their interests, discovering new things about the language and culture.

How it works:

  • We agree on a schedule (days/times) to meet via video chat and discuss, share our lives in French, work on linguistics, language, etc.
  • When we're in class, we chat freely, it's very chill. We'll also watch videos, read, make up stories if you like, and of course review the essentials of grammar, structure and linguistics.
  • Between classes, I suggest activities that are really tailored to you (for example, I have one student who does journaling, another who works on her grammar in texts, and another who does research on topics that interest her).
  • We stay in touch via Instagram or WhatsApp to catch up, send each other interesting reels, etc.

And of course, we have our own Drive space to store everything we do (the videos we watch together, the activities we do, the texts you write, etc.).

People like you and me need this unique mix of learning the language and having a safe space for ourselves. Turning French into a hobby is the best way to learn in general, but even more so for people who have the added pressure of not fitting into society's mould.

What you gain from Out of the Box French lessons

With a structure that is tailored to your goals and needs, you can beat procrastination.

The best way to learn is not to listen to hundreds of generic tips, but to do what works for you and your brain, with activities that you love and that address your difficulties and goals.

Honestly, the only way to stay motivated as a busy and stressed adult is to turn French lessons into a special time, that moment in the week where you just show up, forget about your daily life and worries and escape into French culture, fiction, stories… Nothing like letting go of the pressure to make actual progress!

And the way to turn French into a hobby is starting from you : your passions, your weird obsessions, the things you love to do or talk about... We'll use all of that to make learning fun and turn French lessons into something you don't want to miss, even when you're tired, unmotivated, or sad!

And then, well, it's just fun: you're more confident, you dare to express yourself and do things in French, you really enjoy learning the language, and you're proud of yourself. After just a few weeks with me, you will not only improve your French, you will also discover new things about culture, art, and exciting niche topics, so you can talk about lots of things while having fun and feeling proud!

Who am I?

I'm Lucile, a French teacher for 5 years ✨ Queer, atypical, passionate about languages and a huge fan of nerd culture and fiction, I love meeting new people and helping them achieve their goals in French!

I chose to work with people who don't fit into boxes because I know how difficult it is to learn when you don't function like ‘everyone else’ or when you already have a stressful and busy life. Using niche interests helps people feel more confident, comfortable, free from pressure, and have fun! And that's the best way to make progress.

Some activities I do with my students

To show you a bit how I work :)
  • Analyze together a text by Victor Hugo (or someone else, but I like the one by Victor Hugo, it's cool 🤭), asking ourselves “why did he use this word and not another”, “what does it change if I put the text in the imperfect”, “why did he put this word here and not elsewhere”, etc.
  • Watch videos (film clips, short films, documentaries, etc.) and talk about them together, analyze, debrief, argue, etc.
  • You write a text and then we look at it together, and we think about how we could make it more formal, less formal, funnier, more serious, etc. – in short, we play with words

And of course, we also work on vocabulary and grammar, but we also do that in a fun way, in a good mood, and above all by finding together the best way to learn for You.

Because yes, not everyone learns in the same way, some use mind maps, others need to write, others need to re-explain orally, for some grammar goes from analogies and metaphors to horsemen of the apocalypse and of 'bitchy Gandalf'…We will define together what really works for you personally !

FAQ

La réponse à tes questions sur les cours de français out of the box !

Inclusive online French courses / Cours de français en ligne inclusifs : FAQ

No worries, it happens (even to me!). In that case, we postpone the lesson and do it on another day in the previous/following week.

We usually do an hour a week. But don't worry, if you really have time issues, we can adjust the schedule. Contact me and we'll discuss how to proceed.

That's normal, it will depend on your goals, your level, etc.!

The best thing is to discuss it. If you explain where you are now and where you want to go, I can tell you which package is best for you 🙂

But to sum up:

  • The A la Carte French lessons are no commitment: each month, you pick how many classes you want to do, we plan them and you pay for those classes only. You can stop taking lessons at the end of any month
  • With a pack, you commit to taking a certain number of hours, that’s why the price is reduced as well. You have a limited amount of time to do them, but that amount of time is more than enough if we do one hour a week, even with vacation and sick days! You can renew at the end.

Of course! I teach French to adults of all levels: beginner, intermediate or advanced, as well as people who want to get back into it after a break and have lost their French grammar, vocabulary or confidence

Absolutely! I teach French to adults of all levels, including advanced levels and people who want to keep a link with the language so that they won’t lose their vocabulary and fluency!

I have many students who had this motivation issue, and the fact of having a teacher and, above all, a time to get started, discuss and have fun, totally unlocks it!

And if it really isn't for you, you have a ‘satisfaction or your money back’ guarantee for the first two weeks 🙂
